February 28th

Ah, finally I have some time to write a good post!

These last two weeks have been filled with family. Tony’s Grandma, Jane, was in town visiting from Pittsburgh. She came to help Jan out after her surgery. We were lucky enough to be able to spend at least a little time with her every day that she was here. We were sad to see her leave on Saturday, but look forward to seeing her again later this spring and again this summer; that is if we can’t convince her to come back out here again!

Four Generations

We also had another visitor. My dad came and stayed with us for a few days. It was great, because it was the first time that he got to meet Matty. I also hadn’t seen him in a few years. It was wonderful to have him here. He also signed Matty up for a children’s book of the month club, and we got the first order today! I’m looking forward to reading him these new books.

Matty has been super chatty lately and we have had some great discussions. He also loves to sit up, and stand up with our help whenever he can. He still hasn’t rolled over by himself, but we’re working on it with him. He likes tummy time a little more now. He is already trying to move himself forward when he’s on his tummy. I’ll put my hands behind his feet and he’ll use that to push himself forward. If he would keep his hands in front of him, instead of behind him I think he’d be moving a lot more. I know that he’s anxious to start moving around on his own. He’s gone though a little bit of a growth spurt. He is now drinking 7 ounces at each feeding, but is going at least 4 or more hours in between each bottle. He’s also enjoying nice long naps, although the only place he wants to nap is in his crib. He won’t even nap in his lounger anymore. He’s also graduated to wearing some 3-6 month clothes. He still fits in most of his 0-3 month clothes, but he can also wear the next size up. He’s getting so big! He has his four month checkup, shots included, on Wednesday- so we’ll see how that goes. He was great with the shots last time; he hated the checkup part. Silly baby!

Wednesday evening we are driving up to Amarillo. There we will stay the night with Tony’s Grandparents Chandler. The next day we are flying to Colorado! We will be there until Sunday afternoon. Matthew is getting baptised on Saturday evening. He’s being baptised in the same church that I was baptised in, and he’ll be wearing the same baptismal gown that I wore. We are so excited for this step for him, and also for the opportunity to see lots of family and friends in Colorado.

February 22nd

Okay, the plan was to post a nice long blog today, but I am way far behind in my cleaning. My Dad is coming into town today and I haven't finished getting the house ready. Hopefully I will be able to post something later today or tonight. I hope everyone has a wonderful day!!

One quick picture of Matty in his rattle slippers! More to come, I promise!

February 15th

Sorry it has been a couple of days. I thought my cold was going away, but it came back with a vengeance. I think it may have warped into something slightly more malicious, like a sinus infection. I hope not, but we’ll see.

Since I haven’t been feeling good Matty and I have spent some quality time just lounging. A few of our days can be summed up in this picture.

Matty has been enjoying his swing lately. I remember when we had another smaller headrest in it and it was still so huge for him. Now he is filling it up really well.

Matty has begun to want to sit up straight without always being propped up on something. We decided it was time for a bebe pod! We tried it out and he really liked it. He would look around and smile. We got some pretty cute pictures!

Yesterday was his first Valentines Day! He’s had a ‘baby’s first’ bib for every holiday so far, so I had to get him one for Valentines Day. Daddy came home with a giant heart guy for Matty and I and he really thought it was funny! That evening we all went over to Nicki’s house where she and Josh grilled steaks, made asparagus, green beans, baked potatoes and bread for us, Grandma Jan, Athena, and Tony’s Grandma. She has come to Texas to visit for two weeks! It was a fun night eating, chatting, and playing Farkle! I won, so it was even better!!

Today Jan underwent surgery. She has had a lot of problems with acid reflux, and medication was no longer helping at all. The surgery will hopefully put an end to this. She did great, and is home resting now. We’re so very thankful that it there were no complications, and we’re praying for a quick and painless (or as much as possible) recovery.

February 10th

Today started out great; when Matty woke up he came and snuggled in bed with Tony and I. All five of us (including the dogs) were relaxing together. We finally got all of the boxes cleared out of our garage and can now park both cars in there! Thanks Josh and Nicki for letting us use your truck to transport our boxes. After Tony went out to lunch with the boys and then spent the rest of the afternoon playing video games. Matty napped, and so did I! Then we all met up and went to Athena’s last home basketball game of the season. She was “beast,” recovering rebounds when she played. After that we came home and hung out with the dogs. Sometimes they get a little jealous of me being on the floor (playing and talking with Matty) and not playing with them. So while I was trying to get some pictures of Matty they had to jump in and make their presence known.
Tony heads back to work tomorrow for his four days on.

Happy birthday to my Aunt and God-mother Stephine!! We all love you and hope that we get to see you sometime soon!

Today was a relatively uneventful day. I think he’s getting ready to have a growth spurt, because all he wants to do is sleep. It’s okay with me though because I am able to get more stuff done. The most eventful thing of the day was going over to Grandma Jan’s house for dinner and a movie.

He got a super cute outfit from Grandma Gloria, aka Busia, for Valentines Day. I had to have him wear it today because the statement on it is just oh so true!

February 8th

Well, my cold is still hanging on, and today was actually a little worse. I broke down and bought some cold medicine. I’m hoping it helps! Tuesday is bath day, so this morning Tony and I gave Matty a bath together. He loves his bath during, but hates it as soon as he comes out. It’s a race to see how quickly we can dry him, lotion him up, get him dressed, and give him his bottle to stop the screaming. Today was pretty good. It’s always nice to have two people do it, it quiets him down quicker. He took a really great nap and then was awake most of the afternoon. He was playing with some other little toys and seemed to like them. I caught the cutest smile on camera today.

Tonight Tony and I got to go to Theology on Tap. It’s a church program that gets young adults together from across the diocese once a month to talk about a variety of topics. Tonight the presenter was the Bishop and he talked about the changes that are going to be happening to the Mass come Advent time. It was nice to hear about how the history of the translation of the Mass happened and why they are changing it again.

Now to take some cold medicine and head to bed! Good night everyone!!

Cutest smile EVER!

He will so hate me for this one later in life!

Yeah, bath time!

February 7th

Today was another good day. Tony and I got some good progress done on the house. We took some of our donations to Goodwill and the rest we will give to the church to give to a charity. We tried to take it to the charity ourselves, but the address given was not the right one and we decided to leave it to the professionals instead of driving around aimlessly in a ‘not so great’ part of town. We also got some of our stuff packed up and put into the attic. We are so close, maybe tomorrow we’ll be done enough that I can post some pictures! Tony and I got to go to our “Why Catholic” group. It’s a small group for 18-35 year olds and we study and talk about different topics in Catholicism. Tonight’s topic was Anointing of the Sick. It was a nice time. It’s been great to be able to connect with other people our age and delve more into our faith. We capped the night off with some time with Jan and Athena playing Settlers of Catan. I said that I felt like winning, and I did just that! We came home and put Matty to bed; while we were getting him changed into his jammies we had a good discussion and he was cooperative enough to let me video some of it. I know I sound a little weird, but I have this darn cold that has been hanging on for almost three weeks now. I wish it would just give up and GO AWAY!

He's getting pretty good at finding his thumb!

Yeah! It finally uploaded!! Enjoy our little conversation.
